Brief profile: 
Dr. Uwayezu Ernest is Senior Lecturer at the University of Rwanda (UR) in the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE), the College of Science and Technology. He also serves as the PostGraduate Coordinator and Deputy Dean at SABE. He completed his Doctoral studies in land management in Germany, at the Technische Universität München (TUM: Technical University of Munich) in 2020. He holds a Master of Science degree in Geo-Information Science, obtained in 2010 from the University of Twente, the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, in the Netherlands. Prior to this, he completed his undergraduate studies at the National University of Rwanda, where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Geography. He has more than 15 years’ work experience in teaching and research in land administration and management, with applications of GIS. His research interests include the Geo-information applications in land use planning, land tenure regularisation; spatial data dissemination; land governance and tenure security; gender and land rights; spatial justice and land management; and land conflicts management. With respect to the research projects and consultancy, he has been applying GIS in Information System Design, Geodatabase design and management, land use/land cover change analysis, Land Use and Master Plan elaboration, topographic and thematic map design in support of decision making for socio-economic infrastructure development, environmental protection and natural resources management.
