Brief profile: 
Dr. Gerard Nyiringango, holds a PhD in Information Society, specializing in digital health, from Stockholm University in Sweden. He also holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Education from Western University in Canada and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Rwanda. In addition, he obtained a Diploma in Advanced Telemedicine and Distance Learning Applications from the United States Telecommunication Training Institute, USA, and an Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning from Stockholm University, Sweden. Dr. Nyiringango currently serves as the Director of the Skills Lab and Simulation Centre at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the University of Rwanda and is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. His research interests include technology-enhanced health professions education, particularly online learning and the use of virtual patients for continuing professional development, mentorship, and the mental health and well-being of girls and women following abortion. During his PhD studies at Stockholm University, he worked extensively on virtual patient projects and has published several papers in this area. He currently has 23 scientific publications.
