Brief profile:
Valens Bimenyimana holds a BA in English and an MA in Genocide Studies and Prevention from the University of Rwanda. He is an assistant lecturer at the University of Rwanda. He is also completing his PhD research in Peace, Conflict, and Security at the University of Rwanda’s Centre for Conflict Management (UR-CCM) in collaboration with Gothenburg University/School of Global Studies. This research focuses on interactions between community members and the genocide memorial sites in Rwanda.
Previously he was a researcher, translator, and administrative staff for local and international organizations and institutions like Partners in Health, the University of Kibungo, the former Rwandan Commission for the Fight against the Genocide (CNLG), and the Rwandan Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE).
Bimenyimana’s research interests include memory, education on genocide, terminology, and lexicography.
