Brief profile: 
Dr. MAHORO Janvier is the Ag. Head of Animal Production Department at the College of Agriculture Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, University of Rwanda. he joined the University of Rwanda as an academic staff in March 2013. In June 2017, he obtained a MSC degree in Animal breeding and genetics from Egerton University, Kenya with research project on ‘‘Characterisation of production systems and development of breeding objectives for Indigenous Chicken in Rwanda’’. In December 2012, Janvier MAHORO obtained a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine at University of Rwanda (former Umutara Polytechnic), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Nyagatare-Rwanda. He has also an advanced diploma in Animal Health obtained in 2009 at the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (ISAE), Department of Animal Health, Musanze-Rwanda. He has a secondary school Diploma in Biochemistry obtained in September 2005 from the Groupe Scholaire Saint Joseph Nyamasheke, Nyamasheke-Rwanda. His research interests include animal health and husbandry, livestock management and production systems, Market analysis of animal products, animal breeding practices and genetic improvement, animal genetic resources conservation, technologies transfer and farmer training methodologies, livestock diseases, diagnosis, and biosecurity measures among others. He has also conducted some consultancy assignments on different livestock commodities including capacity needs assessment, market analysis of animal and animal products, veterinary practices, development of veterinary sanitary mandate, livestock development strategy, Farmers association strategic development plans, livestock value chains analysis, and development of training materials for livestock stakeholders.
