Brief profile:
Mugabe Leon, born in 1973 in Kigali City, is an experienced Rwandan educator, researcher, and lecturer with over two decades of professional experience in education and academic research. After completing his advanced secondary education in classical and modern languages at Petit Séminaire St Vincent (Ndera) (1997), he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with Education from the Kigali Institute of Education (2005). He subsequently served as a secondary school teacher, a District In-Charge of Education, and later as a Research Officer at the University of Rwanda, College of Education, where he is currently employed as an Asistant Lecturer. His advanced academic training includes a Master’s Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) (2015), a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2015) from the University of Rwanda, and a Diploma in ICT and Pedagogical Development from Life Academy in Sweden (2016). Over the past five years, his research has concentrated on Geography Education, sustainable urbanization, and lifelong learning, resulting in key publications such as Rwanda National Urban Policies, city profiles for Kigali and Huye, and studies on post-genocide urban growth and neighborhood concepts in Kigali, alongside his ongoing PhD research on "Exploring transformative learning approaches for Kigali City native residents towards adaptation to challenges and opportunities associated with the urban expansion".
