Prof. Madeleine Mukeshimana is a Full Professor of Nursing, Educator, and Researcher with over a decade of leadership at the University of Rwanda’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, including three years as Dean. A Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Gothenburg, she has led national curriculum reforms, contributed to national health policy reviews, and serves as an accreditation expert for nursing and midwifery programs across the EAC region. With 69 publications, 16 research grants, and extensive postgraduate supervision experience, she has driven impactful research collaborations, including SRH initiatives with global partners. An inductee of Sigma Theta Tau International, she is a member of the ICN Advisory Education Committee representing Africa, Vice President of the Rwanda Nurses and Midwives Union, and has served on scientific committees for the ICN Congresses in Montreal (2023) and Helsinki (2025). She is widely recognized for advancing gender equality, health workforce development, and evidence-based care for vulnerable populations. Prof Madeleine aspires to be a role model in Nursing education while leading impactful Nursing and Midwifery research through major grant-funded projects in Rwanda and the region.
