Prof.NTAKIRUTIMANA Theoneste

Ntakirutimana Theoneste is a Professor of Environmental Heath and Dean of the School of Public Health at University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He applies his extensive training in environmental science and engineering to questions of water quality and human health in Rwandan communities, including a focus in schools. He is one of the one health technical workforce at the country and regional level. He developed several one health module that are being used in East African region. He also developed benchmarks for one heath curricular for EAC. He is among the trained reginal Experts in Climate change and Health. His research has been published in international journals with high impact factors. Ntakirutimana has led multiple research projects as a primary investigator focusing on environmental health, WASH, air pollution and One health. He has also contributed to the capacity building efforts of the Household Air Pollution Intervention Network (HAPIN) Trial (namely, establishing a Rwanda-US mentoring team for the University of Rwanda PhD students) and is a co-investigator on the SHEAR (Sustainable Household Energy Adoption in Rwanda) study
