Nadine Rujeni is a Professor of Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Rwanda. She obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2012 and joined the University of Rwanda since 2013. She served as the Dean of the School of Health Sciences between 2017 and 2024. She also served as a WHO Senior Laboratory Expert supporting the Rwanda Biomedical Centre in Pandemic and Outbreak control and immunological studies.
Her research projects focus on neglected and (re)emerging infectious diseases and zoonoses, particularly trying to understand their immunoregulation and the contribution of the gut microbiota, co-infection, the environment, pathogen genomics and host nutritional status on disease outcomes. She has supervised several PhD, MSc and BSc students and mentor junior faculty.
