Brief profile:
"Dr. Jeanne Marie NTETE is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda. She specializes in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma-informed psychological interventions, narrative and group therapies, and recovery processes in post-conflict and humanitarian contexts, with a strong commitment to culturally sensitive and evidence-based practice that integrates mental health, gender, peacebuilding, social justice, and human rights perspectives.
She has extensive experience working with survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, women affected by sexual and gender-based violence, youth born from rape, children and adolescents, and other vulnerable populations. Dr. NTETE holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the National University of Rwanda, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology from Université Paris 8 (France), and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Kenyatta University (Kenya). She is a Certified Global Mental Health Provider in Trauma and Recovery through the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma.
Dr. NTETE has strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, curriculum and training module development, monitoring and evaluation, adult learning, and clinical supervision. She is a Master Trainer of the Training Support and Access Model (TSAM) in gender, gender-based violence, maternal mental health, and mental health systems strengthening, and has contributed to national technical and policy initiatives coordinated by the Rwanda Biomedical Center, Rwanda Psychological Society, and partner institutions. In addition to her academic and clinical roles, she provides professional leadership as a Member of the Board of Governors of Daniel Generation School and as Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Disputes and Disciplinary Compliance for the Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Africa (ACPA). She has published widely, presented at international conferences, supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research, and continues to contribute to capacity building, policy development, and community mental health interventions in Rwanda and beyond."
