Brief profile:
Dr.Ir. Habimana Sylvestre is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sciences (UR-CAFF). He holds a PhD & MSc. in Agronomy; two Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD in Higher Education, and PGD in Agriculture Extension Management), B.Sc.in crop production and Advanced diploma in agro-forestry. He is also serving as Coordinator of Industrial & Academia Linkage at University. He is an agricultural scientist and development practitioner with over 15 years’ experience leading regional programs in crop research, plant nutrition, soil fertility management, and farmer capacity building. He has a proven expertise in coordinating multi-country projects, developing strategic partnerships, and strengthening HLIs and university-based agricultural training. He is very adept at linking scientific research to policy and practice, with a strong record of mobilizing resources and managing donor-funded initiatives. His track record of impactful work across East Africa, enhancing sustainable crop productivity and farmer livelihoods. He supervised numerous research works at post & undergraduate levels at University. He has published different research papers in national and international peer reviewed-journals.
