Brief profile:
"Dr. Fentahun Adane Nigat is a Senior Lecturer in Human Anatomy at the School of Medicine, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda. He holds a BSc, and MSc and PhD degrees in Human Anatomy. He is a former Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi.
Dr. Adane’s research focuses on atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, with particular emphasis on LOX-1–mediated mechanisms, preclinical drug discovery, and translational biomarkers. His expertise includes in vivo and in vitro experimental models, toxicological evaluation using rodent models, platelet biology, and advanced murine models of atherosclerosis. He also has research interests in developmental anatomy and birth defects.
He has published in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in postgraduate teaching, mentorship, and collaborative research aimed at improving cardiovascular health in African and global populations."
Research Area:
My research focuses on atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, integrating epidemiology, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and translational preclinical research. My work also includes toxicological evaluations using rat models (acute and sub-acute toxicity studies) and research on birth defects and developmental abnormalities, with emphasis on underlying mechanisms, risk factors, and translational relevance to human health.
