Dr. GAHAMANYI Noel

Dr. Gahamanyi Noel, PhD is the Director of the Microbiology Unit at the National Reference Laboratory, Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Rwanda. He is a molecular microbiologist with expertise in bacterial pathogens, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and One Health–based surveillance. Dr. Gahamanyi holds a PhD in Molecular Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance from Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania), an MSc in Microbiology from Jain University (India), and a BSc in Biotechnology from the former National University of Rwanda. Before joining RBC, he served as a full-time academic staff member in the Department of Biology at the University of Rwanda, where he contributed to teaching and research. His work focuses on strengthening AMR diagnostics, laboratory quality systems, stewardship, and surveillance in Rwanda.
