MBEREYAHO Leopold

"Dr. MBEREYAHO Leopold is Associate Professor of Civil and Structural Engineering at University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology (UR/CST), in the School of Engineering, department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering, where he is employed from 2005. He completed all university studies at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (Russia), and holds a Bsc and Msc degrees in the field of Civil Engineering, as well as a PhD degree in Technical Sciences, Structural Engineering specialization. Leopold Mbereyaho has both industrial and community engagement experiences. He worked in construction Industry on part time basis on different occasions, especially before joining the University of Rwanda, while during his stay at the University of Rwanda, in addition to his responsibilities as a lecturer, he has been offering expertise to community in his field of qualification, through different audiences in meetings, workshops and/or conferences. Regarding the teaching experience, Mbereyaho has been involved in teaching of different modules at BSc and MSc levels. Modules in the areas of Design of Structures (Steel, Concrete, Timber, etc.), Building Materials, Strength Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Building Technology, Advanced Construction Technology, Engineering Ethics and Professional Conduct, Bridge Engineering, etc. have been taught. Concerning the research experience, Mbereyaho has prepared and published more than 30 peer reviewed journal and conference papers in the areas of Civil and Structural Engineering, Building Materials, Housing affordability, and Sustainable and Environmental Education. As for academic networks, Mbereyaho has been participating in many activities related to promotion of the engineering Education in Rwanda and in East African Community; he has been serving as African Union Jury member for Panafrican University, he is a PhD external expert for different international Universities; he is a reviewer for different international publication journals; Finally, as for ordinary leadership, he is the chairperson of the Governing Body for ULK Polytechnics Institute, and he is the chairperson of Board of Directors for Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA). Regarding the professional membership, he is registered engineer in Institution of Engineer Rwanda (IER), with Reg Number A759/EC/IER/2017.
