Brief profile:
Dr. Jean de Dieu Uwizelimana is a lecturer at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology, with a research profile strongly focused on Biodiversity Conservation and ecological assessment. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Science from the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany. His research interest lies in the use of biological indicators, including butterflies, for monitoring ecosystem health. He has been involved in biodiversity studies in various ecological zones of Rwanda, and he is the first to introduce the community-based butterfly farming approach in Rwanda, for rural community livelihood improvement, forest biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. He is also a research associate at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (CoEB), University of Rwanda.
