Dr. Augustin Nzitakera (Ph.D.)

"Dr. Augustin Nzitakera is a medical scientist and faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Rwanda. He teaches a range of medical science subjects, including histology, diagnostic cytology, and surgical pathology techniques, with a strong emphasis on practical and research-based learning. His research spans diverse areas within medical sciences, with a particular focus on the molecular pathology of solid tumors, especially gastrointestinal cancers. He has contributed to understanding TP53 mutations in gastric and colorectal cancers in Rwanda. Dr. Nzitakera is committed to advancing cancer diagnostics and prevention through molecular research and capacity building in cancer genomics. His long-term vision is to become a leading expert in medical sciences, foster international collaborations, and contribute to the development of precision medicine in Rwanda and the region. "
