Brief profile:
Dr. Safari has the vision, drive, and demonstrated research capability to advance the field of air quality, with the potential to generate impactful knowledge that improves public health and environmental well-being. His research investigates the interactions between urbanization, climate, air quality, and human health by integrating ground-based monitoring and exposure assessments with advanced analytical approaches to generate robust evidence on the impacts of air pollution. His long-term research program aims to develop validated numerical models to estimate indoor-to-outdoor air pollution exchange and predict air quality in regions without monitors, thereby improving our ability to assess the health impacts of air pollution. As an early-career researcher, he has already taken important steps toward this vision through his PhD research, which involved environmental monitoring campaigns, including personal exposure assessments across urban activities and cities. His research efforts have resulted in more than 10 peer-reviewed publications, which increased my h-index from 0 to 4 over the past three years, as well as collaborative projects and contributions to capacity building in air quality and climate science in Rwanda.
