A Big Data platform for strengthening malaria surveillance program in Rwanda

National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)-Through Tackling Infections to benefit Africa (TIBA). The goal of this project is to design a surveillance infrastructure to address challenges related to Big Data while at the same time benefit from Big Data to increased productivity and efficiency. We proposed to upgrade the existing mHealth tool with additional capability in the form of a Big Data and Business Intelligence layer. The Big Data and Business Intelligence layer consists of a combination of three open source systems: RapidPro, Hadoop stack and Elasticseach stack. All these systems are now mature and industry ready.
