Dr Jean Claude Udahemuka has extensive experience (15 years) in academia, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine (University of Rwanda) and has been a visiting Lecturer at the University of Oxford for the Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research (PGDip-GHR), the Nuffield Department of Medicine. He has conducted several research projects with a special focus on molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases as testified by his publication records (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8370-7113). He has been a consultant at the UNFAO in Rome, African Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Kigali and as a Senior Scientist at Stansile Research Organisation (Kigali, Rwanda). He has collaborated with peers from Rwanda and abroad on different research projects involving molecular diagnostics, vaccinology and disease characterisation among others on infectious diseases in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Recent works include the discovery of the emergence of a novel strain of the Mpox virus, and the design of a new diagnostic assay for the novel mpox clade. Jean Claude speaks four languages fluently (Kinyarwanda, English, French and Swahili).
