"Dr. Rutagarama Florent is a Pediatrician and Pediatric Endocrinologist with extensive expertise in medical education, clinical practice, and research. As the Dean of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Rwanda, he oversees a diverse academic portfolio that includes 23 departments and over 60 active programs. With a distinguished career, Dr. Rutagarama has held key leadership positions, including Director of Clinical Education at Rwanda Military Teaching Hospital, as well as leadership roles within the pediatric and endocrinology departments. His achievements include attaining the rank of Associate Professor in Pediatrics and serving as Chief Consultant, underscoring his commitment to advancing medical education and clinical practices in Rwanda. A prolific researcher, Dr. Rutagarama has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributing significantly to the fields of Non-Communicable Diseases, bone metabolism, disorders of sex development, and neonatology. His research continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the understanding and treatment of pediatric endocrine disorders, both in Rwanda and internationally. Dr. Rutagarama is also highly engaged in medical professional organizations. He is member of the Education, Registration and Licensing Committee (ERLC) of the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council (RMDC), serves as a board member of the Rwanda Pediatric Association (RPA), and is an active member of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG). His leadership in these roles further demonstrates his ongoing dedication to improving healthcare systems and outcomes across the region."
