Brief profile: 
Rasheed Omotayo Adeyemo obtained Bsc and Msc Microbiology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria and a PhD at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He started his academic career in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Kampala International University, Uganda, in 2016. He joined the University of Pretoria in 2019 with a full PhD scholarship sponsored by National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa and The World Academy of Science (Twas). In July 2022, Rasheed joined the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, School of Medicine and Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Health Science, University of Rwanda. Dr Rasheed is a seasoned scholar focusing on the dynamic connection between infectious diseases, Phytomedicine and molecular biology. He has a strong foundation in microbiology with significant research and practical experience. Rasheed thoroughly understands the intricate mechanisms underpinning the diverse interactions of infectious agents with the human system. His speciality is leveraging the potency of natural products to develop disease prevention strategies, providing a comprehensive approach that bridges the gap between folklore and modern science. He has contributed to understanding the efficacy of natural products in tackling infectious diseases endemic in African Countries via his focused work and innovative routes in Phytomedicine, pushing for the promise of plant-based solutions in tackling global health concerns.
