Brief profile:
Mrs. NAYABO Alice is an Assistant Lecturer in Food Science and Technology, College of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Rwanda (UR). She holds a MSc Degree in Food Science from Sokoinel University of Agriculture in Morogoro, Tanzania (2014), aPostgraduate Diploma in Food Biotechnology from Strathclude University in Scotland (2006) and a BSc Degree in Food Science and Technology from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology in Rwanda (2005). She is fluent in English,French and Swahili in addition to Kinyarwanda as mother tongue. At the University of Rwanda, Mrs Alice’ responsibilities include teaching, research and community outreach. On the teaching aspect, she has been teaching different courses in the area of Food Technology. Her research interests include the effect of processing on the nutritional content of foods, Postharvest handling and processing of certain food crops, nutrition and food security. Mrs Alice has co-authored one booklet on "Postharvest Loss Reduction Booklet: Kongerera Agaciro Umusaruro w’Imbuto, Imboga n’Ibijumbaby’Ibara rya Oranje Bikungahaye kuri Vitamini A. Postharvest Loss Reduction in Rwanda, RAB-UR-UCDavis-USAID. She also was a CO-PI in projects named: “The Role of Kitchen Gardens in Food Security and Nutrition Diversity to Support School Feeding Program: a Case Study of Musanze and Nyabihu District Primary Schools” and "Irish Potato Quality and Safety for Farmers Improved Incomes Generation and Sustainable Market Supply Chain with Potato Industry in Rwanda". She is also the Chairperson of the Rwanda Standards board Roots and Tubers Technical Committee. She held also the coordination position of UR-CAVM Year ones Programme (2018-2020).
