"Jean Uwamahoro, BSc, MSc, PhD, Professor of Physics at University of Rwanda, College of Education. Hold a PhD in Physics, specializing in Space Physics. Dr. Jean Uwamahoro is a UR academic staff and researcher since 2005 and currently has the rank of Professor of Physics and Science Education. Prof. Jean Uwamahoro also holds an academic administrative position as the Director of the African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS), hosted by UR-CE.
Prof. Jean current academic duties include teaching both undergraduate and Masters physics courses. He is also involved in research and supervision of postgraduate students at both Masters and PhD levels. He regularly participate in leading and managing various funded research projects as the principal Investigator. For research dissemination, he has been and he is often member of UR and international committees for organization of conferences and training workshops. Prof. Jean Uwamahoro has led the initiation and establishing of research collaboration and networking under signed MoUs, between UR with local, regional and international public and private institutions. Currently. Prof. Uwamahoro is also the UR coordinator of the ERASMUS + KA 171 2023-2026; an International Credit mobilité programme project implemented by University of Rwanda and University of la Reunion, FRANCE.
Prof. Jean is a member various regional and international scientific committees. He is member Member of the Rwanda Academy of Science (RAS), member of Editorial Board of the Rwanda Journal of Education (RJE), Vice-Chair of the UR-CE Research Committee, member of the Regional Research and Development Working Group (RRDWG) of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), member of the African Geophysical Society (AGS), member and National Representative of the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) and finally, member and country coordinator of the International Space Weather Initiative (ISWI).
Prof. Jean Uwamahoro is very actively involved in Space Physics and STEM education research. So far, he has authored and co-authored many peer reviewed research papers in the domain of space weather and STEM education research: Research
