Brief profile: 
"Dr. Vincent Manirakiza is an Associate Professor of Geography Education at the University of Rwanda. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography with Education from Kigali Institute of Education, now the College of Education at the University of Rwanda, and completed both a Master’s in Development, Environment and Communities and a PhD in Population and Development with a specialization in urbanization from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium. He has extensive teaching, research and leadership experience. His teaching focuses on Human and Environmental Geography and Geography teaching methodology. His research and consultancy interests include urbanization, urban studies, environment, and education. On urban aspect, he particularly focuses on urban growth and residents’ livelihoods, neighbourhood dynamics and the causal link between urban planning policies and informal settlements, and their spatial and socio-environmental impacts. In education, he focuses on environmental education, teaching methodology, teacher training, lifelong learning, and the development and use of teaching and learning materials. For leadership, he is a Head of Department of Social Sciences Education, coordinator of the Master of Geography and Environment programme, and Lead of Environmental education and sustainable development research cluster in the College of Education. Dr. Manirakiza is involved in several research works here and participates in multiple local and international research projects and conferences as a Principal Investigator, Researcher, Programme Lead, and Consultant. He is a member of the Rwanda Urban Planning Institute (RUPI). "
