Michael TUSIIME is a Fulbright alumnus who earned his Master of Science (MSc. Ed) and a Doctorate in Curriculum Leadership at Northern Illinois University, IL, USA. He has over 20 years of experience in Rwanda’s education sector, serving as a lecturer at the University of Rwanda's College of Education (URCE) and as the former head of exams at REB. Michael has undertaken tracer studies for Rwanda Higher Education Council (HEC) and WDA and performs research for various institutions. He was Rwanda’s appointed technical expert in developing the Association for the Development of Education in Africa's (ADEA) five-year strategic plan (2013-2017). He participated in the MINEDUC-commissioned study aimed at reimagining Rwanda's higher education framework. He also represented Rwanda in the harmonization of the East African curriculum in 2004 and contributed to the drafting of the Education Strategic Plan 2018-2023, the ESSP 2024, and the NSCT 2024-2029. Michael was MINEDUC’s designated contact person for the MasterCard Foundation’s LIT Program during its launch in Rwanda. He has developed training curricula for various organizations and government agencies, including adapting the Compassion International SEL curriculum for the Rwandan context, creating the harmonized East African curriculum framework, and developing the Rwanda Education Board's Social Emotional Learning curriculum. Michael also served as a national investigator for Family Health International’s Playful Parenting program.
